Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Greek olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried Greek oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon sumac optional, for a tangy flavor
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)
  • Kalamata olives pitted (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp:

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, oregano,
  2. sumac (if using), salt, and pepper.

Marinate the Shrimp:

  1. Place the shrimp in a large bowl and pour the honey garlic sauce over them.
  2. Toss to coat evenly.
  3. Let the shrimp marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Cook the Shrimp:

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the shrimp from the
  2. marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off.
  3. Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes per side, until they turn pink and are cooked through.

Serve:

  1. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with pitted Kalamata olives on the side, if desired.

  2. Traditionally, this dish pairs well with a side of roasted vegetables or a simple Greek salad.

Notes

For an added Greek touch, serve with a side of warm pita bread or over a bed
of fluffy Greek rice.
If you prefer a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the
marinade.
