Join us in Ikaria, or around Greece, or in Athens for an intensely pleasurable food experience.
Every spring and summer, together with my husband, Vassilis Stenos, we run weeklong classes on the island of Ikaria. Ikaria is unique because it is off the beaten path, still undiscovered and pristine, and yet world-renowned as a Blue Zone, one of a handful of places around the globe where the longevity rates are so high they are statistically off the charts! Diet and the slow, easy pace of life have lots to do with that. On Ikaria, you will enjoy a real experience in a real Greek village, visit farms and farmers, wineries, artisan cheesemakers, shepherds, beekeepers and more. We will also cook, of course, every day, and enjoy lunch or dinner al fresco in our garden, overlooking the Aegean.
If traveling is more your passion, then you might be interested in one of our many culinary and cultural tours around Greece, to Crete, the Cyclades, and the mainland. I have been living in Greece and working here as a local food journalist for 20 years and know the country’s food and restaurant scene very well. We’ll take you on an unforgettable journey where you will meet local producers, farmers, fishermen, home and professional cooks, and much, much more. You’ll see a side of Greece invisible to ordinary tourists and you’ll leave with a lifetime’s worth of memories.
Athens has its charms, too. So if you’re in town for just a few days consider a one-day private cooking class or a walking tour of the culinary heart of the city. We visit markets, talk about specific ingredients, stop in specialty food shops and taste everything along the way! Athens classes and walking tours are by appointment only.
Enjoy the wonderful, delicious foods of Greece with me.
